Adventist Youth 音乐 Association

AYMA is a collaboration among many Adventist universities and colleges to create a space for young musicians to develop their abilities. This year AYMA is launching both solo performance adjudication and an elite ensemble music making experiences.

 

阶段一

High school musicians from across the globe submit video recordings for adjudication and rating by experts. Just like the popular Solo & Ensemble events all over the United States students will get feedback and encouragement to develop their musical skills.

  • Registration and $10 USD submission fee due: 11月10日
  • Solo Video submission: November 17 - December 3

Participants from stage one with high ratings will be invited to audition through video submission for one of the summer experiences hosted on thewhich include choir, 管弦乐队, 钢琴, and wind symphony. Excerpts will be sent to those auditioning and rosters will be posted on our website with email notification also being sent to those selected. Dates will be announced after the completion of 阶段一.

 

Summer Ensemble Experience

Happening on the campus of Andrews University with rehearsals and performances in the world class Howard Performing Arts Center, this will be a fantastic week of making music for any serious musician. 大型集成, 针对, and many other activities are planned to not only develop musicality but the body, 心, and spirit as a whole.

Eligibility Requirements

 

  1. All students grade 9-12
  2. Each student must be connected with an Adventist church
  3. All types of school settings are accepted i.e. Adventist academy, public high school, home school, etc.

Registration Requirements

  1. 请填写 registration form
  2. Pay the $10 solo video submission fee (link at the end of the registration form)
  3. 学生 who perform with multiple instruments (voice is an instrument) may submit multiple entries. A registration form and submission fee must be completed for each additional entry.
    • Multiple entries could lead to multiple considerations in stage two.
  4. Login credentials for video submission will be sent by email by November 17

音乐 Video Guidelines

  • 学生 are at liberty to select their own music
  • State your full name at the beginning of the video
  • Perform a two-octave scale (one octave for singers) of your choosing
  • Perform the selected work
  • The recording must be natural and free of editing and/or processing.
  • The entire video must be no more than 10 minutes.

反馈

  • Adjudication and scoring will be based in multiple categories.
    1. 语气 - Beauty and control of the sound
    2. 语调 - Accuracy in pitch both in the melodic line and the harmonies
    3. 节奏 - Precision of note durations, meter, and accents
    4. 技术 - This is dependent on each instrument but includes articulation, 鞠躬的选择, 呼吸, 用语, among other areas.
    5. 解释 - The overall expression, phrasing, tempo, and dynamics used in performing the piece.
